Online cancellation: You can easily cancel your registration by entering your VicRoads account and choosing the option “Cancel my registration”. It will be necessary that you request the refund of the money at the same time. It is worth mentioning that by using this method, you will have to provide real evidence of the destruction of the vehicle`s number plates.
Another of the possible ways to proceed is to visit one of the VicRoads customer service centers. In this case bring your vehicle`s number plates along with your ID or equivalent that proves your identity. (Due to the COVID situation this service may have suffered some changes, and it is highly recommended to use the online service until further notice.).
In some scenarios, the VicRoads allows the driver to keep the number plates or to transfer a number plate from a vehicle to another one. In case you prefer to keep your number plate, it will be necessary to inform the VicRoads department and to be aware that a fee will be conducted in order to complete the transaction.
